JAMMU, Apr 15: Police today arrested a bootlegger along with 35 pouches of illicit liquor from Badyala Chak area, falling under the jurisdiction of Akhnoor police station.
A police spokesman said that, on specific inputs, police team from Akhnoor police station laid a surprise naka at Badyala Chak and intercepted a pedestrian namely Ashok Kumar, son of Ambu Ram of Badyala Chack.
During checking, police recovered 35 pouches of excise liquor which he was carrying illegally, he said, adding that the accused was arrested.
A case under FIR number 72/14 under Section 48-A Excise Act has been registered at police station Akhnoor and further investigation into the case is going on.
