Bollywood film producer Rajkumar Barjatya passes away

KOLKATA: Bollywood film producer and chairman of Rajshri Productions Rajkumar Barjatya passed away on Thursday morning in Mumbai.
He is survived by son filmmaker Sooraj and wife Sudha
It is with profound grief that we mourn the loss of Raj Kumar Barjatya, father of Sooraj Barjatya. May his soul Rest In Peace, Rajshri Productions said in a tweet.
Film trade analyst Komal Nahta tweeted, ?Terribly shocking news. Shri RajKumarBarjatya passed away some minutes back at Reliance Hurkissondas Hospital. Can’t believe this. Met him just a week back at his Prabhadevi office. He spent so much time with me and my family. He looked perfectly alright then. And now, he’s gone!
Movie critic and biz analyst, Bollywood Hungama taran adarsh in a tweet said, Shocked and saddened to learn of Rajkumar Barjatya ji’s demise… Raj Babu – as he was affectionately called – was an extremely soft-spoken person… Heartfelt condolences to Sooraj, the Barjatya family and #Rajshri parivaar.
Actor Anupam Kher, who owes his big Bollywood break, Saaransh, to Rajshri productions, in a condolence tweet said, “Deeply saddened to know about the demise of Raj Kumar Barjatya ji. Had known him since my
first film Saaransh. Most humble and amazingly knowledgeable human being. Had a childlike curiosity. I loved speaking to him for hours about goodness. He practiced it. Will miss him. #OmShanti.”

He has produced films such as Maine Pyar Kiya (1989), Hum Aapke Hain Koun (1994), Hum Saath Saath Hain (1999), Vivaah (2006) and PremRatan Dhan Paayo (2015).

His last production venture, Hum Chaar, was recently released.
