UDHAMPUR,   Dec 9:  Accusing the BJP of bartering away the pride and  honour of the people of Jammu region to satiate its lust for power, NPP chairman and former minister Harsh Dev Singh today said that people of Jammu were facing a peculiar situation in which they were finding themselves cheated by their own leadership.
Addressing public meetings in Ramnagar constituency of district Udhampur today,  Harsh Dev said that BJP leaders who had mesmerized and lured the people of Jammu region with their seductive slogans during elections inflicted the biggest dent upon Dogra pride by succumbing on almost all Jammu based issues before their Kashmiri masters. He said that even the staunch supporters of BJP were shocked to see their leadership melting before PDP only to retain their role of junior partner in the Govt.
He said that BJP had not only mortgaged the self respect and dignity of Dogras but also surrendered the interests of our youth for crumbs of power. With our role and share perpetually falling in political and economic landscape of the state, the saffron party had pushed Jammu region to terminal decline, maintained Harsh.
Accusing further the BJP of facilitating the implementation of the agenda of separatists in the State, Singh expressed dismay that the same BJP leaders who once described stone pelters as anti-nationals and a threat to security had happily endorsed the decision to release around 4500 stone pelters. Again it was in BJP rule that compensation and jobs to the NOKs of deceased stone pelters, militants and siblings of separatists had been announced, he rued.
NPP leader said that it was amusing to note the BJP pampering and appeasing the anti-nationals in the valley despite its loud slogans of “zero tolerance” only to keep its ally in good humour and thereby retain its second fiddle role in the unholy alliance.  Expressing concern over the growing unemployment in the region, Singh regretted the persistent neglect of Jammu youth who had virtually become extinct in the select lists issued by the recruitment agencies like PSC and SSB. He said that never before had the educated youth of Jammu been subjected to such humiliation as in the present BJP-PDP rule. He said that with anger and disgust of unemployed Jammu youth having reached its crescendo, the BJP leaders seemed to have shamelessly abdicated their responsibility towards the younger generation.
