JAMMU, July 23: On the Balidan Divas of Kuldeep Verma, a martyr of 2008 Amarnath land row agitation, Jammu West district President Ayodhya Gupta organised a programme at Kachi Chawni.
BJP State president & MLA Sat Sharma, State general secretary (Organization) Ashok Koul and other leaders took part in a hawan and later paid their tributes.
Shilpi Verma, widow of martyr Kuldeep Verma, also attended the programme.
Sat Sharma, while paying tributes, said that the day when Kuldeep Verma attained martyrdom, the Amarnath yatra agitation took a new turn and witnessed participation of almost entire population of Jammu province in protests, dharna etc. It was a turning point of the agitation, which finally culminated after more than two months. He said that although Kuldeep Verma is no more in the world but his sacrifice taught the people of Jammu how to get united for a cause and shall remain as a source of inspiration to the nationalist people.
Ashok Koul said that the 2008 agitation was the outburst of the anger of the people of Jammu, who were forced to come on streets and start a massive agitation against the dispensation whose decision provoked them. He said that the historic agitation also proved that the people of Jammu could stand united for a cause.
The BJP leaders including Yudhvir Sethi, Moti Koul, MLC Romesh Arora, district president Ayodhya Gupta, district Prabhari Jugal Kishore Gupta, Shilpi Verma, district general secretary Sanjeev Sharma, Sheela Handoo, Mahila Morch district president Veena Gupta, Sangeeta, Vinod Gupta, Dinesh Gupta, Kulbhushan Vohra, Surinder Chowdhary, Dr. Pardeep, Bal Khajuria, Praduman Singh and Jeet Anrgal also took part in the hawan.
