JAMMU, Mar 7: A protest demonstration was held by BJP activists of Bahu Fort area against the 16 to 18 hour power cuts in a day during the examination days due to defuse of transformers of 6/6 Sub Transmission Receiving Station and snapping of power supply in BPL and other Bastis of Bahu Fort.
The demonstration was led by Kr Rajiv Charak, convener, State Training Cell BJP.
Addressing the demonstration, Mr Charak said that maximum people belonging to BPL families and SC community live in the area who have no source of income and they were getting the power supply for last 50 years and now the department has snapped their connection during the examinations period of their students.
He said in neighbouring Punjab 400 units of electricity is supplied to BPL families free of cost and demanded that the same system be adopted in the State.
