BJP made border residents cannon-fodder for petty politics: Team Jammu

Excelsior Correspondent
R S PURA, Jan 25: Expressing serious concern over hardship being faced by border residents, Chairman of Team Jammu Zorawar Singh Jamwal today regretted that BJP leadership has made helpless dwellers of borders as ‘cannon fodder’ for petty politics.
He said that miseries of border residents are increasing with every passing day but those at the helm of the affairs have adopted casual approach.
Addressing border residents at various places after distributing blankets and eatables to the affected people putting up at various relief camps, Zorawar Singh rued that despite Jammu’s representation at the higher level at Delhi, no serious efforts have been taken by the Union Government to permanently solve problems of border residents.
Coming down heavily on BJP leadership for doing only ‘lip-service’ for these hapless people,  Zorawar Singh said that during 2014 Lok Sabha and Assembly elections, BJP had promised to permanently solve security problems of the border residents but all its promises remained confined only on papers.
Cautioning politicians against indulging into photo sessions and politics on the miseries of the helpless border residents, Zorawar Singh  said that patience of Jammuities are running out and people will not tolerate such brazen acts of politicians. He expressed shock over loss of lives and property of border migrants who have been targeted time and again. He also lashed out at Pakistan for resorting to frequent ceasefire violation and targeting civilian population.
Team Jammu chairman described border area people as the unarmed soldiers guarding the nation who face the first bullet of the enemy. He demanded long term policy for them, such as construction of concrete bunkers in their areas, besides providing plots and shelters in safer zones, provision of education, medical and other civic facilities at the time of their migration.
Besides, Team Jammu also demanded that compensation for dead live stock must be increased from Rs 30,000 per cattle to Rs 1 lakh per cattle.
Besides, SP Headquarters, R C Kotwal and SDM, R S Pura, Naresh Sharma, Narinder Sharma, Vinay Kumar, Dheeraj Sharma, Arun Jojra, Sulabh Mahajan, Sanjeev Kumar, Mohit, Suresh Sharma, Harbans, Aman, Abhinav, Nitin, Ajay, Sham Badyal, Naveen Gupta, Sunil Raipuria, Yogesh Kumar, Sumit Dusgotra and Akshay Gupta were among other volunteers of Team Jammu who distributed relief to border migrants.
