Bijli, Paani, Sadak need Govt’s focused attention: Rana

SHOWA (BHALWAL), Nov  2: Saying that public grievances redressal camps have emerged as a viable mechanism to air the problems and seeking their solutions, Provincial President National Conference Devender Singh Rana today called for focused attention of the Government on clean drinking water, regulated power supply and dependable roads.
“Holding interactive sessions enables executing agencies to formulate schemes of immense public importance and seek feedback on the ongoing projects”, Rana said while interacting with the people at Ranjan and Showa in Bhalwal block of Nagrota constituency, adding that this also enhances peoples’ participation in developmental efforts.
He told the people that four important internal roads have been approved under Prime Minister’s Grameen Sadak Yojna on his recommendations as MLA. These include Bamyal to Mathwar, Marh to Showa, Panjgrain to Damuni and Dansal to Khatrui. He also sanctioned Rs 10 lakhs out of his Constituency Development Fund for construction of Community Hall at Granda in Showa.  He also said that a road involving cost of Rs 17.50 lakhs will be constructed from Kambal Khad to Bhatta in the Showa area.
Rana took stock of various ongoing projects and sought their status from the accompanying officers. He inspected the work on Stadium at Jandiyal being constructed at a cost of Rs 60 lakhs.
In response to demands made by the people at Public Grievances Redressal Camp, Rana took up the issues pertaining to upgrading civic amenities, ensuring power supply strictly as per schedule besides power and drinking water problems of various areas with the concerned and sought immediate redressal. He called for adhering to the schedule with regard to power and drinking water during the ensuing winter months.
He assured the people that he will highlight their issues at every fora so that their problems are mitigated earnestly. “Being your representative, I assure you that every effort will be made to seek redressal to your problems at the earliest”, he said, adding that for the just cause of the people he will keep knocking every door. Due to concerted persuasion, he said effort is being made to have the ongoing projects completed within stipulated time-frame.
The MLA particularly highlighted the crucial role of Rural Development Department, saying the constituency being rural-oriented calls for a holistic approach with regard to prioritised development in consultation with the local representatives and as per the needs of various areas. He urged the department to generate massive awareness about the schemes and programmes in the rural development sector so that benefits accrue to targeted segments of society.
While reviewing the status of various schemes and programmes, the MLA exhorted the officers to strive for translating these into reality. He said delays in execution generally negate the purpose of the projects and therefore there is need for maintaining the deadlines.
