JAMMU, Apr 10: Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University (BGSBU) authorities today placed Prof (Dr) Asgher Ali Shah, facing charges of sexual harassment, under suspension.
Having absolved of the charges hardly three days back by the University’s Internal Inquiry Committee, the BGSBU University authorities, in a surprising move today placed Prof Shah from the School of Bioscience & Bio-technology (BGSBU), under suspension. The order in this regard was issued by Registrar of the University, Prof Iqbal Parwez vide Ref No. BGSBU/Reg/18/9720.
Justifying the suspension of the Associate Professor, the University order said, ” Consequent upon the receipt of a compact disc by the Chairperson, Women Cell, Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University on April 09, 2018 and the same being handed over to the Vice-Chancellor, who after preliminary scrutiny of the evidence on compact disc, has ordered that Dr Asgher Ali Shah, Associate Professor, School of Bioscience and Biotechnology, BGSBU, be placed under suspension, pending inquiry.”
Three days back, BGSBU authorities Rajouri had quashed the allegations of sexual harassment against the same Professor after an inquiry, saying the charge was apparently an attempt to dent the image of the varsity.
