BGSBU organizes 6th Mathematics Conference

RAJOURI, Jan 22: To popularize Mathematics in the Peer Panjal region, Department of Mathematical Sciences of Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University (BGSBU) Rajouri organized 6th Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah (BGSB) Mathematics Conference in which about 250 students from prominent schools, colleges and post graduate departments of the region participated.
The conference had partitioned two main events. First event was a written competition organised in three phases on 18th (for School students), 19th (for post graduate students) and 20th of January (for undergraduate students). In the second part of the conference, presentations were held on January 20, highlighting applications of Mathematics to other areas such as Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Social Sciences, etc.
In his message, Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof Javed Musarrat, said that Mathematics is an extremely important subject and has great influence over the society through the science and technology. He encouraged the school and college students to take mathematics as their career subject.
Dean, Academic Affairs, Prof Koul, while speaking on the occasion, highlighted the need and importance of mathematics for a better understanding of science and humanity subjects and advised the students to get maximum benefit out of such conferences.
Earlier in his welcome address, Dr Zaheer Abbas, Head of the Department, threw light on the purpose of organizing the conference. Attat Hussain, Registrar of the University, also spoke on the occasion.
At last 65 trophies were distributed among the winners in various categories. The institutes students of which remain winners are Himalayan Degree college Rajouri, GDC Rajouri, GDC Thanna Mandi, GDC Mendhar, COET BGSBU Rajouri, Himalayan Education Mission School Rajouri, MET Thanna Mandi, International Higher Secondary School Rajouri, National Public School Rajouri, KV School Rajouri, Panorama Public School Rajouri, Happy Home School Rajouri, Nawaz Public School Palma, MIE Fatehpur, MEI Dhngari and Department of Mathematical Sciences, BGSBU Rajouri.
The programme concluded with vote of thanks by Dr Javid Iqbal.
