Balwant Thakur attends high powered expert committee meet

NEW DELHI, Feb 23: Director Natrang Padamshree Balwant Thakur attended the high powered expert committee meeting of Union Ministry of External Affairs at New Delhi.
Responsible for the empanelment of the artists and groups for their performances abroad, this high profile committee was mandated to select the ultimate talents of India in music, dance and drama who could later represent India in international cultural events thus glorifying India’s immense cultural legacy the world over.
This high powered committee of eminent cultural experts included Shekhar  Sen Chairman Sangeet Natak Akademi, Padam Vibhushan Sonalman Singh, former Chairman Sangeet Natak Akademi, Padambhushan Debu Chaudhuri, eminent Odissi dancer Sujata Mahapatra, Raja Reddy and Padma Subarhamanyam.
This high powered committee was over and above the six national committees for Theatre, Music, Dance, Traditional, folk, tribal and indigenous arts, Contemporary arts, and Puppetry which was empowered to review the recommendations of all the different committees.
This has happened for the first time that a cultural personality from Jammu and Kashmir was elevated to such a higher position.
Balwant Thakur has already made his presence felt at the national and International level with his most outstanding presentations and despite being the youngest amongst the eminent cultural personalities, he has made his distinctive position by his sheer hard work and creative accomplishments.
