JAMMU, Feb 20: Binay Kumar Jha, Chief Commissioner of Income Tax, Amritsar and Ludhiana, who is on tour to Jammu, held a meeting with members of ICAI, Jammu Branch and Income Tax Bar Members.
Senior officers of the department present in the meeting were S K Sharma, Addl CIT, Hemant Gupta, Joint CIT and Income Tax Officers.
While addressing the gathering, the CCIT thanked the tax payers and tax professionals of J&K on their support and overwhelming cooperation in meeting various targets assigned to the department at Jammu. He also complemented the tax payers and the professionals regarding the excellent performance shown during the IDS where under J&K left behind all the other big stations of North West Region in not only achieving the given targets but also exceeded it by big margin.
Referring to Prime Minister Garib Kalyan Yojana, Chief Commissioner of Income Tax said, “the Government has given this opportunity because we want people to voluntarily come forward and make their declaration of cash deposits, made in an account with bank or post office”.
It was made clear that the department has been provided information of cash deposited by the people after the announcement of demonetization on 08.11.2016 and correlating this with existing income-tax data. It was impressed upon all the concerned to avail the benefit of this PMGKY in operation up to March 31, 2017.
The meeting was attended by prominent tax professionals including CAs Ashwani Khajuria, Sudhir Arora, Rakesh Gupta, V K Kapoor, Amit Gupta, Hemant Sharma, Sanjay Gupta, R K Chugh, Pawan Kapoor, Shalley Razdan and Advocates Sat Mehta, Rattan Lal Gupta, R K Mahajan, R K Dogra, V K Grover, V K Suri and others.
Meanwhile, Binay Kumar Jha visited Saraswati Dham, the venue of Tribal Youth Exchange Programme and interacted with the participants and shared his journey of becoming a part of the prestigious Indian Revenue Service coming from a humble background.
He emphasized the tribal youth coming from various States to work towards nation building and contribute in their sphere of work.
