JAMMU, Mar 17: To promote the traditional folk culture of J&K, Bhartiya Lok Sangeet Kala Sansthan, Jammu and Saraswati Sangeet Vidyala, Poonch, presented unique Traditional Folk Culture comprising Dogri, Pahari, Gojri, Bhaderwahi and other languages of Jammu and Kashmir during “Jashn-e-Kashmir Festival” in Tamil Nadu, which was organized by the South Zone Culture Centre, in coordination with All India Radio and State Government of Tamil Nadu and Academy of Art, Culture & Languages J&K Govt.
The Program was inaugurated by Dr Andrew Francis SJ, Principal, St Joseph College. Items of Pahari, Gojri, Jagarna, Kashmiri, Bhaderwahi, Dogri were presented by Artistes. The Artistes of troupes were recommended by the Secretary, Academy of Art Culture and Languages of Jammu and Kashmir. The items were selected for Jashn-e- Kashmir Festival and rehearsed at the Auditorium of Bhartiya Lok Sangeet Kala Sansthan under the chairmanship of M L Dogra.
It was the first ever occasion when dignitaries of the State witnessed the one week performances of J&K. Dr Alamdar Hussain Shah, Cultural Officer/SOCA- JKAACL was the coordinator of the “Jashn-e-Kashmir ” Festival in Tamil Nadu.
The one week “Jashn-e-Kashmir” festival Tamil Nadu started on 11th March ,2016. Earlier the unique programs were also presented at Ooty, Tamil Nadu – ” Queen of Hill Station”, which was inaugurated by R Venkateswarlu, Advisor All India Radio (Southern Region) and presided over by P Shankar District Collector and the guests of honour was Madhavi, Director All India Radio Ooty and was highly appreciated by the people of Tamil Nadu State.
The artists who enthralled the audience were Master Kartar Chand, Basant Vyogi, Vijay Jeetu, Om Parkash, Raffiq Hussain, Surjeet Singh, Hira Lal, Kalaptru, Mrs Tripta Kumari, Nisha Choudhary, Pooja Kumari, Tanvi Choudhary, Neha Mehra, Aina, Shalu and Smiley.
