Arrangements for admission of 2nd batch of SMVDCoN finalised

JAMMU, Feb 3: The 11th meeting of the Governing Body of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi College of Nursing (SMVDCoN), Kakryal, was held here.
In the meeting, arrangements were finalised for the selection of students for the second batch of the BSc Nursing course of the College, which would commence in April 2017.
Maj Gen. (Retd) Shiv Kumar Sharma, Member of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board and Chairman of the Governing Body of the College, chaired the meeting. He reviewed the progress of implementing digital ERP solutions for various administrative and academic processes.
Principal of the College, Dr Shailla Cannie, apprised that all 20 modules of ERP solutions have been made functional and are presently on trial. Once the trial is concluded successfully all the modules will be made functional for regular use. After this most of the administrative and academic processes of the Nursing College will become digital and will be available online, he added.
The meeting was attended by the members of the Governing Body of the Nursing College Dr MK Bhandari, Commissioner/ Secretary, Health and Medical Education, AK Sahu, Chief Executive Officer of the Shrine Board, Dr V Verma, Dean, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University, Subrata Deb, Librarian, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University, Dr (Brig) Man Mohan Harjai, Chief Administrative Officer, SMVDNSH, Kakryal, Dr Shailla Cannie, Principal of the Nursing College, Hem Kant Prasher, Chief Accounts Officer and Dr Arvind Karwani, Dy CEO, SMVDSB.
The meeting discussed the modalities for conducting the entrance examination for admission of students for the second batch (2017-18) of the Nursing College.
Chairman, Governing Body advised the Principal to ensure early release of prospectus and make arrangements for accepting online applications for the entrance test. It was decided that the entrance examination will be conducted at Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University for shortlisting the eligible and meritorious candidates.
The Governing Body also finalised the contents and format of the first edition of ‘Dhatri’, the quarterly newsletter of the SMVDCoN, which will be brought out on the occasion of the Lamp Lighting Ceremony of the first batch of the students of this College which is being held shortly. It was informed that a documentary regarding the College of Nursing will also be screened on this occasion.
CEO of the Shrine Board, AK Sahu emphasised that bringing out the newsletter should be part of the student activity which will help the students in developing their soft skills and writing techniques.
