POONCH, June 11: An Army jawan allegedly committed suicide by using his service rifle in Poonch today.
Official sources said that Gunner Ranjot Singh, of 278 Field Regiment was on duty in Poonch area. He used his service rifle and fired a bullet on his chest, resulting in his death on the spot. The other soldiers rushed to the spot and later they informed seniors.
The police party from Poonch Police Station also arrived the unit after some time. The police conducted legal formalities and then handed over the body to the Unit officers after postmortem. The investigation was launched.
