AMT teacher murder case solved, accused arrested

JAMMU, June 3: The brutal murder case of AMT School teacher, Anita Gandotra was finally solved and the accused arrested.
Addressing a press conference here today, SSP Jammu, Sunil Gupta, said it was reliably learnt on May 24 that a lady  Anita Gandotra wife of late Vinod Gandotra, resident of Reshamgarh Colony, Jammu, was murdered by some unknown person(s).
He said that on this information, a case FIR No 67/2017 under Section 302 RPC was registered at police station Bakshinagar and investigation taken up. “The brutal murder of the lady had become the cause of fear among the locals”, the officer said, adding, so a SIT headed by Pranav Mahajan, SDPO City West, was constituted on May 26 under the close supervision of Dr Vinod Kumar, SP City North, to solve the case as early as possible.
The SSP said during the course of investigation, various suspects were rounded up and questioned and at the same time various technical and scientific evidences were collected and analyzed minutely.
“Subsequently during sustained questioning, one of the suspects Piyush Sawhney son of Ravi Sawhney, resident of House No 125, Malhotra Street, Purani Mandi, Jammu revealed his involvement in the murder of his aunty, Anita Gandotra”, the officer told media persons.

He said during investigation, it came to surface that the accused had taken some amount as loan from his aunty and was not able to pay back the amount despite pressure exerted on him by his aunt.
“On the day of incident the accused visited the victim’s house and on payment issue he became furious and subsequently attacked his aunt and killed her in her own house. Matter is still under investigation and as the accused is still being interrogated, some more facts and recoveries are yet to be effected”, the SSP maintained.
