He added that they will protest against Government for its denial to extend 73rd amendment in Jammu and Kashmir on January 7 by organizing a protest rally to Civil Secretariat from Press Club Jammu. Terming announcement of Panchayat elections as a drama by the Government, Sharma warned to launch agitation and will fight for the real Panchayati Raj as in other States of the country.
He urged the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley and Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti to allocate special funds of Rs 10 lakh each for each ward of the Panchayats which should be exclusively utilized only on the recommendations of the 25 per cent of total voters in a Panchayat ward.
He demanded minimum 100 days guaranteed employment to the registered MGNREGA card holders and urged the Finance Minister to make provisions in the budget so that poor MGNREGA labours do not suffer for want of funds. He also demanded increase in their daily wages to Rs 300 per day and appointment of adequate number of Ombudsmen to resolve their genuine grievances.
AJKPC President also raised the issue of families of the martyr Panchayat members who have not been provided any compensation and urged the Government to provide Government jobs to the next of the kin of the martyred Panchayat members.
