AIBCU holds protest, demands 27% reservation

JAMMU, Feb 28: All India Backward Classes Union today held a protest rally at Divisional Commissioner’s Office, Jammu demanding 27% reservation in State Government jobs and educational institutions.
The rally was held under the leadership of president of the Union, Abdul Majid Malik, who while addressing the protestors, said since independence the State rulers had been looting the due share of State OBCs, who form more than 50% of the State population.
Successive rulers of the State since independence had been looting the due reservation share (27%) of the State OBCs by changing the definition of ‘Socially and educationally backward classes’, Malik said adding they (State rulers) shared their share with resident of backward area (20%), actual line of control (3%) and only giving 2% to the real OBCs that too on the name of OSCs.
They have been cheated under the garb of Article 370, the speakers said questioning the State rulers if on the direction of Apex court, the tainted films could be removed from the State vehicles then why the Government is not implementing the Apex Court’s judgement given in 1992 regarding Mandal report.
The speakers demanded their due share in every field viz political, educational and Government as well as private sector jobs. They warned the State rulers to grant their due share or be ready to face the music in the coming Parliamentary and Assembly elections.
Prominent among others who spoke included HD Betab, AA Nazar, Tariq Bhat, Abdul Majid and many others.
