All 8 nominations found valid

JAMMU, Mar 30: The nomination papers of 8 candidates, who were in fray for biennial elections to the Legislative Council, were found valid after scrutiny today.
Returning Officer Mohammad Ramzan scrutinized the nomination papers in presence of the candidates.
Pertinent to mention that 8 candidates yesterday filed their nominations for election to 6 seats of the Legislative Council, which will be falling vacant due to retirement of six members of the Upper House on April 19.
The candidates who filed their nominations yesterday include  PDP candidates Abdul Qayoom Dar (Jammu province) and Yasir Reshi (Kashmir province), BJP candidates Vikram Randhawa (Jammu province) Pradeep Sharma, (District Poonch), Girdhari Lal Raina and Ashok Kumar Bhat (Kashmir province), NC candidate Aga Syed Mehmood (Kashmir province) and INC candidate Thakur Balbir Singh (Jammu province).
The last date for withdrawal of candidature is April 3 and the election, if necessary, will be held on April 17.
