5-day workshop for teachers, teacher educators concludes at CUJ

JAMMU, Jan 13: Five- day training workshop for teachers and teacher educators was organized by the Centre for the Teacher Resource and Academic Support and Centre for the Learning and Pedagogics Studies, School of Education, Central University of Jammu, under PMMMNMT, in collaboration with CIET and NCERT.
The purpose of the workshop, which concluded today, was to acquaint teachers and teacher educators regarding usage, development and integration of ICT in teaching learning process. Around 55 teachers from various DIETs of Jammu division and scholars of School of Education, CUJ, were apprised and trained in various ICT resources that can be used in making teaching and learning process active and lively for students and easy for teachers.
Prof. Ashok Aima, VC of CUJ, in valedictory  address,  emphasized on bringing the technology to the doorstep of each and every child so that they can have access to the vast array of knowledge. He further added that technology has redefined the role of teacher who must be prepared to accept the challenge and make themselves technology resilient. He also highlighted the need of creating the core groups of technologists at local and State level to maximize the outcomes of the efforts put in the workshop.
Prof Lokesh Verma, in his welcome address, highlighted the need of integrating ICT in education.
Briefing about the significance of workshop, Dr J N Baliya, Coordinator, Centre for Teacher Resources and Academic Support, informed that the various sessions of workshop have helped the teachers to understand the specific techniques of creating and employing the e-resources in the classroom situations.
Dr Angel Rathnabai, Assistant Professor, CIET, called for making teaching and learning process livelier and engrossing for students by making effective use of interactive technologies available.
Importance of mobile technology in teaching learning process was highlighted by Dr Yash Pal, Assistant Professor, CIET. He also discussed about various mobile apps such as e-pathshala, vidya-mitra developed by NCERT and CIETs for school and university education which are available for android, OS and window phones.
The workshop included various technical sessions on enhancing the awareness and knowledge level of the participants about open education resources (OER) and National repository of open educational resources (NROER) was provided to the teacher educators. Ways to access and developing open educational resources was also provided by Dr Angel Rathnabai. She also helped the teacher educators in developing instructional material based on ADDIE model.
