3-day Maha Shramdaan takes off at Udhampur

UDHAMPUR, Sept 8: The District Administration Udhampur today started 3 day Maha Shramdaan to facilitate left out households to complete Individual Household latrines under Swachh Bharat Mission.
District Development Commissioner Ravinder Kumar launched the Maha Shramdaan from Panchayat Darsoo to construct 1000 toilets across 60 Panchayats of the district.
On the occasion, the DDC performed Shramdaan to help a widow Laxmi Devi to enable her to construct a toilet on her own.
He urged the people to come forward and contribute their bit in making their respective panchayats open defecation free (ODF), adding that only the collective efforts of all the villagers would help in making the dream of ODF a reality. The DDC appealed the civil society for helping the left out households under SBM Gramin.
Among others present at the launch were Assistant Commissioner Development, Noor Alam, Block Development Officer, Udhampur Rupali Vaid besides field functionaries of concerned department.
