3-day fast by JJSF concludes with tributes to student martyrs

JAMMU, Oct 18: On the concluding day of  `Three Day Fast’,  being observed by JJSF at Shaheedi Sthal near GGM Science College Jammu, as a mark of respect and  homage to the four student martyrs of 1966, rich tributes were paid to martyr Gurcharan Singh, Brij Mohan, Gulshan Honda and  Subash Chander.
Tributes were paid by Prof Pankaj Shrivastva, Dean Students Welfare, Jammu University, Rajinder Jamwal, D N Mehta (then student leader), Madam Bhardwaj of GCW Prade, Prof Ashok Kumar and others from GGM Science College Jammu, Pushpinder Singh, Surinder Singh (President Yuva Rajput Sabha), Sardar Rajinder Singh, Nitin Bakshi of NSUI,   teachers from University and different colleges, students and people drawn from different walks of life.
Prof Pankaj Shrivastva, Rajinder Jamwal, D N Mehta and Surinder Singh offered   juice to the fasting students.
Rajinder Jamwal, while recalling the supreme sacrifice of student martyrs, said that people of Jammu were drawing inspiration from these martyrs. He announced that forthcoming 50th year of Black Day would be observed with wider and broader participation for which a committee would be announced soon.
D N Mehta, S. Rajinder Singh, Madam Bhardwaj and Prof Ashok Kumar, also addressed the gathering and asked the students to remain united.
Advocate Jatinder Chib, President JJSF, who had organized this event, asked the students community to work for the cause of Jammu to get due political empowerment of the region.
Advocate Nitin Bakshi of NSUI also addressed the gathering and highlighted the role of students in great movements.
