3 booked for murderous assault

JAMMU, Apr 16: Three persons including a couple were booked by Garkhal police for assaulting a man with an intention to kill him.
Quoting the victim, who was identified as Pawan Kumar son of Jagir Ram, resident of Garkhal (Akhnoor), a police spokesman, said that on April 13 at about 9.30 pm, he (Pawan) was sitting in his shop at Garkhal, when his real brother namely Parshotam Lal, who has old enmity with him on the distribution of property, along with his wife, Champa Devi, came to his shop and started pelting stones upon him.
He said that during scuffle a stone thrown by Parshotam hit his head while Parshotam’s wife beat him with kicks, fists and blows. In the meantime, he said, another person namely Devi Ditta son of Suram Singh, resident of Garkhal, with criminal intention attacked him with sharp edged weapon (Sword) and inflicted injuries upon his arm.
“As my wife came to my rescue, she was also beaten by the accused persons”, he said, adding, on making hue and cry some nearby people reached the spot but till then the accused persons had fled away from the spot.
He said that his family members shifted him and his wife to Government Medical College and Hospital, Jammu for treatment but the doctors there referred him to Amandeep Hospital, Amritsar in view of his critical condition.
The spokesman said that in this connection, a case FIR No 67/2017 under Sections 307/323/336/34 RPC and 4/25 A Act has been registered at concerned police station and investigations started.
