2nd tube of 4th Tawi Bridge to be opened by Feb end: Govt

JAMMU, Jan 30: Government today informed the Legislative Assembly that 2nd tube of 4th Tawi Bridge will be opened for traffic by end of February this year.
In a written reply to the question of BJP MLA from Jammu West Sat Sharma, the Roads and Buildings Minister said that an amount of Rs 850 lakh has been utilized for repair of 4th bridge on River Tawi at Bhagwati Nagar so far.
“The bridge was closed on June 19, 2016 following heavy floods and one tube of bridge has been opened for vehicular traffic from September 2016”, the Minister said, adding “the 2nd tube will be made trafficable by the end of February 2017”.
About construction of Jammu Ropeway Project, the Minister said that 80% of RCC work of Section-II—from Mahamaya to Shahabad has been completed and the balance RCC work is expected to be completed within one month. “Work on station building and towers of Section-I-between Peerkho and Mahamaya has commenced”, he said, adding “the project is likely to be completed by March 2018”.
