Over 200 kanals forest land retrieved on SAC intervention

JAMMU, Mar 5: More than 200 kanals of forest land has been retrieved from the encroachers in Nowshera Forest Division following the intervention of the State Accountability Commission.
A complaint was received in the Commission that 250 kanals of forest land in compartment number 90 of Nowshera Forest Division was grabbed by encroachers and despite complaints made in this regard to the authorities concerned, no action was taken in the matter.
State Accountability Commission comprising of Chairperson Justice BA Khan (Former Chief Justice) and other two members Justice JP Singh and Justice Bashir A. Kirmani which met few days back took cognizance of this complaint and sought explanation from the concerned forest authorities and in response, thereto, authorities submitted a report to the Commission stating that the land in question has been retrieved from encroachers in compartment number 90 of Nowshera Forest Division and now only 16 kanals of land remained in dispute which was pending before the High Court.
