2 yrs RI to driver for rash driving

JAMMU, May 4: CJM Samba, S S Bali today awarded two year imprisonment to Mohinder Singh, son of Puran Singh of Udhampur, who was facing trial in rash and negligent driving which caused death of 18 passengers, after 11 years long investigation and trial.
According to the police case, on April 11, 2002 a bus bearing registration number JKS7762 being driven rashly and negligently by Mohinder Singh from Samba to Udhampur plunged into 200 feet deep gorge. In the accident, 18 passengers died.
After hearing CPO Pawan Khajuria for the State whereas Advocate SK Khanmotra for the accused, CJM Samba observed, “prosecution has proved the charges against the accused for the commission of offences”.
Accordingly, Court awarded two years imprisonment to the accused.
