2 killed as car plunges into gorge

JAMMU, Feb 5: Two persons were killed, when the Hyundai i10 car they were traveling in, skidded off the road and plunged into gorge near Nachlana area on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway.
The ill-fated vehicle bearing registration number JK03-6070 was on its way from Srinagar from Ramban, when the driver lost control over the car and it plunged in 250 meters deep gorge near Nachlana, resulting into on the spot death of two persons.
After getting information, police team rushed to the spot and retrieved the bodies from the gorge.
The bodies have been shifted to Primary Health Centre (PHC) Ramsoo for autopsy, which will be conducted tomorrow.
The deceased have been identified as Mohammad Maqbool Sofi, son of Gulam Hassan Sofi of Keribal District Anantnag and Gowhar Hussian Khan, son of Gulam Rasool Khan of Kazibagh District Anantnag.
A case under FIR Number 4/18 under Section 279 and 304-A RPC has been registered at Police Station Ramsoo and investigation started.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti has expressed grief over the loss of lives in this road accident.
She has conveyed her sympathies with the bereaved families.
The Chief Minister has directed the authorities to ensure that traffic laws are enforced with strict compliance.
