2 killed, 11 injured as mini- bus turns turtle

KATHUA, Feb 25: Seven year old girl and an octogenarian man were killed while 11 others were injured four seriously after a matador bearing registration number JK08C which was on its way from Uchapind to Billawar  turned turtle at Guda Kalyal in Billawar tehsil of Kathua district today.
The four seriously injured were referred to Government Medical College (GMC) Hospital Jammu while six with normal injuries are undergoing treatment at Sub District Hospital Billawar.
According to police the matador was in fast speed and as the driver applied a sudden break, he failed to control the vehicle which turned turtle on the road resulting in the death of a seven year old girl on spot while injury to 12 others.
The deceased girl has been identified as Usha Devi daughter of Shiv Dass of Uchapind who was traveling along with her mother Gulshan Devi in the matador. Gulshan also received minor injuries and is undergoing treatment at SDH Billawar.
Out of five serious patients who were referred to GMC Jammu for treatment one 80 year old Dani Ram, S/o Jolla Ram of Thadha Kalyal in Billawar died on way to Hospital at Samba.
While the body of Usha Devi was handed over to her family members after postmortem for last rites, the body of Dani Ram has been kept in hospital for postmortem and it will be handed over to family tomorrow.
The driver and conductor of the matador managed to flee after the accident. The Billawar Police has registered a case under section 279/304 in this regard.
The other serious passengers referred to GMC included Deepak Kumar, 25, S/o Ramesh Kumar of Uchapind, Manzoora Begum 48, W/o Salim Akhtar of Guda Kalyal, Four year old Krish S/o Suresh Kumar also of Guda Kalyal and Sanjeev Kumar 38, S/o Omparkash of Badvarha Basohli. Their condition is also stated to be critical when last reports came in.
