SRINAGAR, Nov 2: Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) Youth president was killed by militants in South Kashmir district of Shopian as police recovered his throat slit body this evening while two Army personnel and a militant were killed in an encounter at Samboora area of Pulwama district this evening.
Police recovered body of Gowhar Ahmad Bhat, son of Mohammad Ayuob Bhat, who is district youth president of BJP in Shopian, this evening from village Kiloora with visible torture marks on body parts.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Shopian Shri Ram said that they have launched a probe to ascertain the cause of death. “We are also verifying whether the deceased was affiliated to any political party or not,”  he said.
Massive search operation has been launched against the assailants of Bhat.
Meanwhile, BJP president Amit Shah today condoled the death of a leader of the party’s youth wing, Gowhar Ahmad Bhat.
Shah said terrorists cannot stop the youth from choosing a better future.
“Pained to learn about the brutal murder of our @BJYM District President Gowhar Ahmed in Shopian, J&K. My deepest condolences to his family. Terrorists must realise that they cannot stop the youth of the Valley from choosing a better future for themselves,” Shah wrote in a series of tweets.

Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti has condemned the killing of a political activist of Bongam, Shopian, Gowhar Ahmad Bhat.
The Chief Minister has expressed condolences with the bereaved family. She has appealed to all sections of society to come forward to end this cycle of violence in the State.
Union Minister of State in Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) Dr Jitendra Singh has strongly condemned the killing of BJYM district president Shopian Gowhar Ahmad Bhat.
“Deeply saddened by the inhuman killing of BJYM district president Shopian, Gowhar Ahmad Bhat,” Dr Jitendra Singh tweeted.
Meanwhile, Army’s 50 RR, SOG and CRPF acting on a tip about presence of four militants in village Samboora, Pampore cordoned it off this evening.
As security forces were conducting searches and fired some warning shots towards a suspected spot, the hiding militants opened fire on troops, triggering an encounter.
In the ensuing encounter, a militant was killed and he has been identified as Waqas Ahmad. Three soldiers were also injured in the gun battle and two of them later succumbed to injuries at 92-Base Hospital.
The other three militants managed to flee from the village under the cover of darkness.  The operation has ended and security forces recovered one AK-47 rifle and one UBGL from the site.
In the meantime, five Central Reserve Police Force personnel were injured in Anantnag militant attack this morning.
Two paramilitary CRPF men were injured after militants attacked their vehicle at Lazbal area of South Kashmir’s Anantnag district this morning.
A group of militants opened fire upon a bus of 96 Battalion CRPF at around 8:45 am  which resulted in bullet injuries to two paramilitary men while three others suffered minor injuries due to broken glass panes of the vehicle.
The entire area was cordoned off by security forces including army and police’s SOG and searches were started to nab the attackers but no one was arrested when reports last came.
Lashkar-e-Toiba militant outfit has claimed responsibility of the attack.
And a live hand grenade was today recovered by Police after it was found lying on the roadside near Old Bridge adjacent to DC office in Main Town of Kupwara district.
The grenade was detected by police on the roadside and Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) was immediately summoned who later recovered the device. Meanwhile, panic gripped the area soon after the news regarding lying of grenade spread.
And Army’s 19 Mahar posted at Asha Post in Gulmarg sector during searches of forest area at Kuthyali Dokh in Drung area of Tangmarg busted a militant hideout and recovered huge cache of arms and ammunition.
These include one AK 47 rifle, 147 rounds of AK ammunition, one Pistol, three hand grenades, six Wireless sets, one UBGL thrower,  one UBGL, one MLG round, one stamp of J&K LeT, stamp of district commander LeT, one solar panel and one walki talki.
The arms and ammunition were handed over to Police Station Tangmarg and a case (FIR NO — 72/2017 Under section 7/250 was registered.
