UDHAMPUR, June 4: Udhampur Police today achieved a big success against smuggling of narcotics and psychotropic substances when 140 kg of poppy straw was seized at Chenani.
Based on a reliable information, a police party led by SHO Chenani, Inspector Sanjeev Chib, under supervision of SDPO Charanjeet Singh, laid a naka at Zero Morh and intercepted one Truck bearing registration number PB07AA-7391.
During search, 140 kg of poppy straw was recovered from the truck, which was being driven by Surinder Singh, son of Fakir Singh of Tanda, Punjab. Police arrested the driver and seized the poppy straw.
In this connection, a case FIR number 55/2018 U/S 8/15 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Chenani and further investigation has been taken up.
