1,122 cases pending before CBI; conviction rate above 67%

NEW DELHI, July 23:
As many as 1,122 cases have been pending before the CBI for investigation till May this year, the Lok Sabha was informed today.
Of these, 11 cases are pending before the agency for more than three years, Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office Jitendra Singh said in a written reply. About the conviction rate in cases before the agency was above 67 per cent, the Minister said, adding that in year 2011 and 2012 the rate of conviction was 67 per cent while it rose to 68.62 per cent in 2013 and 69.65 per cent for cases tackled by it between January and May this year.
