Yatri Bhojanalya, Amritsari Di Hatti challaned for unhygienic conditions

JAMMU, Mar 6: A Food Safety team led by Dr Parvesh Kumar, Assistant Commissioner Food Safety Jammu inspected food handlers in Raghunath Bazaar and adjoining areas.
The team challenged M/s Yatri Bhojanalya at Veermarg Road and Amritsari Di Hatti, opposite to Raghunath Temple for cooking and preparing food in unhygienic conditions.
Dr Parvesh Kumar appraised them to keep their kitchens and work places neat and clean and prepare food in hygienic conditions and serve better quality food as lot of tourists visit their areas, which is index of entire Jammu and Kashmir.
Earlier, in view of forthcoming Navratra festival, the Food Safety team under the guidance of Dr Parvesh Kumar organized an awareness camp for food handlers of Shri Mata Devi Shrine at Kalika Bhawan, Rail Head here today.
During the camp, the main focus was put on the hygiene and cleanliness of surroundings of food, GHP, FIFO etc. and dress code of food handlers. The food handlers and staff of all the three bhawans of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board participated in the camp.
Later, a workshop-cum-awareness camp on food labeling for the members of Dry Fruits Association of Jammu was held at Hotel Vivek, Lower Gumat. A large number of participants were present in the camp.
Dr Parvesh Kumar briefed the participants that all the people dealing with dry fruits business should keep their articles free from mould, dead insects, rodents, pieces, shells and fibres.
He stated that the colour of the article should be same, free from additives, store them at right temperature level, should have name of products, nature of products addictive if used, nutritional components, date of manufacture, best before use, FSSAI logo and price.
