JAMMU, Sept 11: A 23-year-old woman allegedly tried to end her life by jumping in river Chenab near Namandar area, falling under the jurisdiction of Akhnoor police station. However, acting swiftly, the locals rescued the woman.
As per police sources, a woman identified as Bandana Devi (23), wife of Surinder Singh, a resident of Ward Number 4, Khour allegedly tried to end her life by jumping into river Chenab near Namandar area of Akhnoor.
Some boys were bathing near river Chenab and rescued the woman. Police also reached the spot and later restored the woman to her family members.
A cognizance in this regard has been taken by the police.
