KATHUA, Oct, 20: In a shocking incident a young woman died after her legs got amputated while boarding a train at Railway Station Govindsar for Jammu near here today.
She was identified as Pooja Devi, 38, wife of Sanjay resident of Mehtabput Kathua.
The ill fated lady was on her way to Jammu to participate in Bhai Dooj function at her parental house. While boarding the Sawaraj Express at Govindsar Railway Station for Jammu her legs got trapped and she fell down from stair case and her two children boarded the train which slowly moved towards Jammu.
However, seeing the lady in serious condition the train was stopped and her two children also alighted from it. She was immediately rushed to District Hospital Kathua. Seeing her condition serious and as there was no such infrastructure available in D H Kathua to treat her, the family members decided to take her to Pathankot Hospital for treatment but due to excessive bleeding she died in mid way.
Her body was brought back and after postmortem in DH Kathua it was handed over to family for last rites. The Govindsar Railway Police has registered a case under relevant sections of law.
