Uniqueness of India in its inclusiveness: Dy CM

* Inaugurates 2-day Baisakhi Festival

JAMMU, Apr 12: Maintaining that uniqueness of our country is unique in ensuring that every section of society is treated equally and their festivals are celebrated by everyone, Deputy Chief Minister Dr. Nirmal Singh today said that the concept of inclusiveness is in the culture of India since times immemorial where everybody is being treated equally.
The Deputy Chief Minister was speaking at a function organized in connection with the Baisakhi festivities here today.
Minister for Finance, Labour & Culture Dr Haseeb Drabu, Minister for Industries and Commerce Chandra Prakash Ganga, Minister of State for Education & Culture Priya Sethi, State President BJP and MLA West Sat Sharma, Yudvir Sethi, prominent cultural activists, artists and people from different walks of the society were present on the occasion.
The Deputy Chief Minister said that our nation has taught the world the concept of coexistence and mutual harmony. ‘ In our nation due space is given to every community, school of thought and the festivals of every community are celebrated by one and all thereby imbibing the concept of inclusiveness and universality’, he added.
Dr Singh said that the festivals are part of our culture and traditional values and we should be taking every possible measure to ensure that these are celebrated as it provides an opportunity for people to come together and interact with each other. He said that the Government is taking every possible step to ensure proper preservation and propagation of our rich heritage.
Minister for Finance said that several steps have already been initiated for reviwal and propogation of our rich cultural traditions. He said under the program Art for All musical programs, Art exhibitions are being held at different places across the state by involving several leading artists as well as local talent.
Dr  Drabu said that steps are also being initiated to ensure that every region gets its due share and space so that these three regions are connected culturally in a proper and coordinated manner.
Minister for Industries and Commerce, Chandra Prakash Ganga also spoke on the occasion and enumerated the various initiatives being undertaken in the sector.
Minister of State for Education & Culture enumerated the utility and importance of the festival and said that the Government has already taken several initiatives for ensuring that it is celebrated by undertaking the 3 day Baisakhi festival at different places in the Jammu division.
MLA Sat Sharma also spoke on the occasion and complimented the organizers for the event.
