Two-day mega Kissan Mela at SKUAST-J from today

JAMMU, Mar 16: Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences & Technology of Jammu hosting   two days mega Kissan Mela  at its Main Campus Chatha, which will be formally inaugurated today by Governor N N Vohra.
The main theme of the mela is “Integrated Farming: Profitable and Sustainable Farming”. Major focus in the event will be on demonstration of the proven/advanced technologies aiming at improving agriculture productivity, profitability and sustainability. This was informed by Dr K S Risam, Director Extension, who said that many international and national companies dealing in Agriculture and allied sectors will be displaying their latest technologies to the farming community in the mega Kisan Mela.
Main center of attraction of the mega Kisan Mela will be the latest hand on experience for the farmers regarding latest machinery available at national and international level. According to Dr Vivek Arya, during the Mela scientists of excellence in their respective field will be having a direct interface with the farmers. The purpose of Kisan Mela is to showcase the transferable technologies, machinery, services and recent developments in agriculture and allied sectors for the benefit of farming community including farm-women, entrepreneurs, rural youth and other stake holders.
