Turtuk residents criticize Govt for neglecting region

JAMMU, Jan 28: The residents of Turtuk area in Nubra tehsil of district Leh criticized the Government for neglecting the region since its reincarnation with India in 1971.
Addressing a joint press conference Haji Abdullah Sarpanch Turtuk Youl along with Assad Ullali Sarpanch Tyakashi, Mohammad Ali Sarpanch Turtuk Farool and Abdul Rashid Naib-Sarpanch Turtuk Youl said that during the war many families left behind their dear ones on the either side of LoC and conceded these 41 years of apprehensive with the hope to meet again.
They said that Government of India as part of confidence building measures has opened various routes, trade routes and meeting points at various places in Kashmir valley and Jammu province but unfortunately has not applied same measures on them.
They demanded opening of Turtuk-Khapulu route in district Leh and Kargil-Skardu route on the pattern of ‘Rahe Milan’.
They appealed the Government to announce one seat of legislator for Turtuk area besides one seat of council in LHDC Leh to librated area which is their constitutional right besides Block status for the (librated area) Turtuk and re-inducting of Actual Line of Control certificate (ALC) certificate to the youths living in villages falling within 5 Km area from ALC.
They also appealed the Government for allowing Tourist up to Tyakshi Pachathang (new tourist place) as despite Government orders Army is not allowing the tourist to visit these villages for security reasons.
