Troops on high alert along LoC

Srinagar, Sept 21: After attack on Army’s Brigade Headquarter near the Line of Control (LoC) at Uri in North Kashmir’s Baramulla district in which 18 Army men were killed, security around Army installation in Kashmir has been intensified to foil any such attacks while India and Pakistani troops along the LoC are on high alert.
After the attack on Army’s Brigade Headquarter in Uri, Army has strengthened defences around its camps, Battalion Headquarters, Brigade Headquarters, Division Headquarters and 15-Core Headquarters of Army in Kashmir. Sources said that the Army is conducting round the clock patrols along its installations following the inputs about Uri like attacks.
The Army has intensified its vigil along the LoC in Kashmir to foil any infiltration bid from Pakistan Occupied in Kashmir (PoK). The Army has also intensified its patrolling along the LoC.
The troops are also conducting massive search operations in the forests near the LoC against the infiltrating and infiltrated militants. The operation against a group of infiltrators in Nowgam sector is going on since yesterday.
Army launched a massive operation against a group of 4-5 infiltrators in Nowgam sector of North Kashmir yesterday. One Army jawan was killed in a gun battle that ensued. However, the army lost contact with the group last evening and they have sent Special Forces to trace them out.
The operation in Lacchipora area of Uri is also going on where Army yesterday foiled a major infiltration bid by 10-12 militants near the LoC. Eight infiltrators were killed and Army saw the bodies lying in a ravine near the LoC but they failed to retrieve them. The Army operation in Lacchipora is going on.
In the meantime, after the Uri attack the India and Pakistan troops are standing an eyeball to eyeball along the LoC and there is heightened tension.
Reports said that Pakistan troops have started making preparations and arrangements for aircraft landing on its motorway. The walls on the motorway have been removed while the conventional white and yellow traffic lines have also been erased from the motorway to convert it into a runway that stretches from Kala Shah Kaku to Shekhupura.
Reports coming from Pakistan said that Pakistan Air Force (PAF) has been put on readiness as they fear retaliation to the Uri attack. Pakistani troops have also been put on high alert.
Reports from Muzaffarabad said that all the air strips in PoK have been closed for civil flights. Barricades have also been erected on Neelam Valley road that is near the LoC.
