Third ultra in SSB camp attack nabbed

JAMMU, Sept 24: Police today succeeded to nab third militant also, who was allegedly involved in attacking Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) camp at Thathar, about 10 kilometers from Banihal in which a SSB Head Constable was killed and  an Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) was wounded on September 20.
With the arrest of this militant, identified as Aqib Wahid, son of Abdul Wahid Najar of Kaskoot, Banihal, all three militants involved in September 20 attack on SSB camp, have been apprehended.
According to SSP Ramban, Mohan Lal, the arrested militant is a B Sc Part III student of Anantnag Degree College and he was held from Nowgam by a Police party from Ramban after successful raid on a hideout.
It may be recalled that the militants had attacked SSB jawans who were returning to their camp at Thathar after patrol duty at the site of construction of new tunnel on the National Highway at Banihal.
In the attack, one Head Constable was martyred while an ASI was seriously injured. The militants had also taken away with them one Insas rifle and one AR-41 rifle of the SSB jawans.
Both the snatched weapons were recovered from two militants, who were arrested on very next day of the attack.
