JAMMU, Mar 9: Speaker Legislative Assembly, Kavinder Gupta appealed people to start ‘save water mission’ from self and take it further to neighbourhood, villages and towns; if everybody does it, the mission of Prime Minister, Narendra Modi will ultimately be achieved.
Speaking in a constituency level workshop organized by National Development Foundation in coordination with CCDU wing of PHE, I&FC at Institution of Engineers, Channi Himmat today, Gupta narrated the stories of his childhood and said how people use to fetch water for drinking and other household purposes. He also stressed that things cannot improve by regulation but by self-motivation. He sought the cooperation of people to link themselves with mission of save and secure water.
Speaker who was chief guest on the occasion complemented the role of National Development Foundation for holding workshop on such an important issue.
Vibodh Gupta, MLC attended the programme as guest of honour. ADDC Jammu Suriya Jabeen, SE PHE Urban Circle Ajay Singh Wazir, Gopal Sharma representative CCDU, PK Nanda, Dr Shahid from Health Deptt also spoke on the occasion. Mohinder Singh Manhas TO to SE Urban PHE conducted the proceedings of the programme.
Rajiv Khajuria, presented key note address and covered all aspects of water, sanitation and hygiene. He requested the Speaker to direct the authorities to bound plot owners not to rent out their plots to juggies without provision of toilets. A pledge on water conservation was also taken by the participants and guests.
