Sarv Dharma peace gathering held

JAMMU, Apr 15: To mark the communal harmony and solidarity of J&K and nation, a Sarv Dharma peace gathering was organised at Bahu Plaza here today.
The responsible and enlightened civil society of Jammu came together to strongly deliver the message that they stand as one single entity against any act of injustice or crime against women.
Ruchi Chauhan Khan of Fahad Mir Foundation, the main organizer of the event, said that for the wrong and heinous act committed by ten men, the greater Jammu region or the lakhs of peaceful, democratic and inclusive people living here could not be tarnished.
Khan said that the entire Jammu region had stood up and raised its voice against the heinous, barbaric crime committed upon minor Rasana girl.
She said that Jammu region has a history of inclusivity and a strong, secular character. She added that it was wrong to spread propaganda against this peace-loving region where people believed in justice and the rule of law.
Rajni Shaleen Chopra of NGO Lehar said that it was essential to address social crimes as a law and order issue. The civil society must play a major role in ensuring communal harmony and peace in society all over the country, Shaleen added.
The Sarv Dharma Peace gathering was attended by a large number of Hindus, Muslims, Sikhs, Buddhists and Christians. Eminent civil society members from diverse backgrounds including professors, doctors, university and college professors, entrepreneurs, bankers, research scholars and students spoke on communal peace and harmony and demanded justice for Rasana victim.
