Rs 7.5 lakh old notes seized

SAMBA, Mar 23: Bari Brahmana Police has arrested two persons and recovered Rs 7.5 lakh old currency notes of 1000 and 500 denominations from their possession near Balol bridge today.
The duo was carrying the banned currency notes in an Alto Car bearing registration number JK0BN 9412. The police seized both car and the banned currency.
They were identified as Shashi Kumar , S/o Nanak Dass resident of Meshian Miran Sahib, district Jammu and Shashi Kumar S/o Nanak Dass resident of Bariaan near Hanuman Mandir Samba.
The duo has been put under sustained interrogation. The SSP Samba, Anil Magotra said that the vehicle was asked to stop at the naka near Balole bridge by the police party on naka duty and on checking it recovered the old currency notes from it.
He said they were on way to Chandigarh and police is tying up with Income Tax authorities to ascertain the more details. The Bari Brahmana Police has also registered a case in this regard and further investigations have also been started.
