DANSAL, July 1: Predicting rout of fascist forces in Indian political scene, Provincial President National Conference Devender Singh Rana on Monday said that inner-party crisis in Bharatiya Janata Party have led its top brass to raise the bogey of Article 370 in a bid to push its extremist agenda in the ensuing elections.
Addressing National Conference party workers at Panchayat Khanpur, Jagti, Dansal, Churta, Badsoo, Dhan, Kanyala, Jandrah and Kathar in Nagrota constituency, Mr Rana said that National Conference will stand like a rock to defend the State’s special status and make destructive, divisive and communal elements lick the dust.
Mr Rana cautioned against divisive tendencies of elements inimical to secular ethos and said rise of communalists like Narendra Modi is a bad omen which has potential of fragmenting India into pieces and demolishing its secular identity. “Unfortunately, some political forces in Jammu and Kashmir are hobnobbing with divisive Bharatya Janata Party to weaken the foundations of the State”, he said and referred to public pronouncements being made by a PDP legislator in Poonch claiming to transform Jammu and Kashmir into a state like Modi’s Gujarat.
The Provincial President warned that National Conference will not allow Jammu and Kashmir to be converted into Modi’s Gujarat where thousands of people became victims of communal frenzy under the patronage of saffron administration. “We will push such elements beyond Pathankote”, he declared.
Recalling State’s glorious traditions of amity, peaceful co-existence and tolerance, Mr Rana said that Sher-e-Kashmir Sheikh Mohammed Abdullah strived all his life to nurture this spirit of unity in diversity. This is the legacy which will be carried forward with same vigour and those coming in its way will find their political space shrinking, he maintained and urged the people to further strengthen the party, which he described as a popular public movement.
Saying that National Conference will emerge as a force to reckon with in 2014 elections, the Provincial President declared that the party will establish its premier character with flying colours. He referred to his recent visit to far-off areas of the Jammu region and said the enthusiasm among people gave him confidence that National Conference will sweep the ensuing parliamentary and Assembly elections across the State. He said that euphoria among people has shattered the foundations of the opposition, which is finding themselves in a state of shock and frustration.
Mr Rana asked the party workers to further intensify their outreach and help people over their problems. He also responded to the issues raised by local leaders and said these will be taken up at appropriate level for earnest consideration.
Those who were present in the meetings included Rameshwar Dutt, Ch. Rehmat Ali, Subash Singh Advocate, Balwan Singh, Angrez Singh, Saraj Din, Khurshaid Ali, Balwan Singh, Mohammad Sadiq, Raghubir Singh, Rajinder Singh, Rakesh Chib, Gulail Singh, Sukha, Rajiv, Ashwani, Abdul Haq, Sunil Singh, Omkar Singh, Abdul Gafoor, Junait Ali and others.
