JAMMU, Mar 16: To keep the younger generations in touch with their culture and moorings, a colorful cultural programme was organized at Radio Sharda 90.4 FM today.
The function was presided over by Ramesh Hangloo founder Director of Radio Sharda and president Pir Panchal while renowned artists of the State including Bihari Kak, Asha Zaroo, Bharti Zaroo, P K Raina and others highlighted the significance of the rich cultural heritage of the State.
In his address Bihari Kak while throwing light on the 5000 year old rich cultural heritage of Kashmir, said it is the duty of the younger generation to preserve this treasure for the posterity. He said despite facing pangs of migration the present generation of displaced Pandits kept their ancestral legacy intact as they did not want to go astray from their roots. Following them the younger generation has also to enrich their mother tongue, culture and maintain their rich traditions so that the same is preserved for coming generations also.
Ramesh Hangloo in his address said the main idea behind the establishment of Radio Sharda was that younger generation is linked to the culture and language otherwise being away from the Valley they may get delinked from their cultural moorings.
He assured that Radio Sharda with the active support of artists and writers will continue to discharge this responsibility by broadcasting programmes on Kashmiri culture and tradition with special significance to folk lore as well as traditional plays like Bhand Pather, Gosani Pather etc.
He said it will be a great achievement for us in case we can preserve the language and rich culture of Kashmir in the exile as well.
