PRO to ex-DyCM remanded to 7-days police custody

JAMMU, Feb 21: Special Judge Anticorruption Jammu Sanjeev Gupta today granted seven days police remand of Kewal Sharma, a Forest Guard who amassed huge property during his posting as PRO to former Deputy Chief Minister.
DySP of Vigilance Organization Jammu H L Dhar today produced Kewal Sharma, son of Gian Chand Sharma of Khour in the court of Special Judge Anticorruption seeking remand of the accused in case FIR No. 32/2015 registered under Section 5(1) (e) read with 5(2) of Prevention of Corruption Act, 2006.
It has been submitted in the remand application that accused had amassed assets worth crores of rupees disproportionate to his known source of income. It was further submitted that accused has managed to open bank accounts on fake documents and deposited crores of rupees in those fake accounts.
“The accused is not cooperating with the investigation agency and to unearth the facts with regard to huge assets the custodial interrogation of the accused is required”, the Vigilance Organization further submitted.
After going through the remand application as well as the CD file, Special Judge Anticorruption remanded the accused to police custody for a period of seven days.
