After police inaction, family goes on protest

MENDHAR, May 19: After police inaction, eight members of a family  today  sat on hunger strike as mark of protest outside the office of SDM Mendhar here today.
Members of this family led by Nusrat Bi, wife of Mohd Ibrahim, residents of Tain village in Mankote today came to the office of SDM, Rahul Yadav  and sat on fast outside, to lodge their protest against local police. The villagers alleged that two families of the area led by one Mohd Shabir and Raj Mohd  and others barged into their land  under Khasra No. 1474/ 1472/1466/ 1480 and tried to grab on April 27.  There is nearly 60 kanal of land under these numbers. They also beaten up them and an FIR was also lodged with concerned Mendhar police against  11 persons on the same day but no action was taken till today.  Inspite of  taking action against the accused persons, the police was harassing them, they alleged.
Today, all the eight members of the family  carrying black flags sat outside the office of SDM Rahul Yadav demanding justice. Since, SDM was away today in Gursai area and returned in the evening.  He later listened to them and assured action in this regard.
