JAMMU, Apr 1:  The protest demonstration and dharna of PHE daily rated, ITI trained and community participation workers continued at B C Road office complex on the 19th  consecutive day today.
The agitating daily rated PHE workers  again struck their work today and observed protest dharna in support of their long pending demands outside the office of Chief Engineer PHE, Jammu. They were raising loud slogans against the higher authorities in the department and demanding release of their pending wages and regularization.
A large number of workers under the leadership of Tanveer Hussain, Union president,   assembled at PHE complex in the morning and started protest demonstration followed by day long dharna at the site. The PHE workers from various districts  and PHE divisions  and sub divisions participated in the protest programme.  They were also demanding framing of regularization policy for all community participation workers, daily rated, ITI trained and need base workers. They  also demanded release of pending wages of  nearly 35 months of these workers.
Tanveer Hussain and several other trade unionists also addressed the gathering and  alleged that despite assurances by the former minister and the Chief Engineer PHE, their issues have remained un-resolved. They  demanded that a policy be framed for the regularization of all type of temporary workers.
He said that workers have decided to continue  their strike till their demands are addressed.  And it will be  called off only after a written agreement is reached between Union leadership and higher authorities in the Govt.  He said the workers will intensify the struggle as concerned authorities have failed to address their long pending issues. The  workers are only demanding their hard earned wages and regularisation. It is unfortunate that Government instead of releasing their wages is trying to sabotage their agitation.
Meanwhile,  about fifty members of All Jammu and Kashmir Panchayat Conference led by its president, Anil Sharma today joined the protest dharna of the PHE daily rated workers at BC Road and accorded full support to their cause. They urged upon the State Administration to address the genuine issues of the protesting workers.
