SRINAGAR, June 10: Scores of Kashmiri Pandits today staged a protest demonstration against security forces in Vessu area of South Kashmir’s Kulgam district.
As per reports, one battalion of armed SSB (Sashastra Seema Bal) today occupied one newly constructed building which was constructed for the migrant Kashmiri Pandits who are posted in many Government departments in the Valley.
A Kashmiri Pandit employee alleged that they are made to suffer as Government has failed to provide independent accommodation for employees and most of the employees are living in share basis accommodations.
He said the families were happy when the construction of the new buildings was completed. “When the construction work was completed, we thought, now at least some families can live independently but today suddenly when SSB personnel occupied the building, all families were shocked and that is why we protested against their occupation,” he said.
He further said that the SSB can shift to other location as they are safe here with their Kashmiri brethren. “We even don’t need the already deployed Army and CRPF and what is the fun of deploying SSB in quarters constructed for migrant families who suffer because of the accommodation,” he added.
