NSG membership issue with Swiss President

GENEVA :  Prime Minister Narendra Modi  is today holding  formal  talks with  President of Switzerland Johann  Schnieder-Ammann during which he is expected to seek the country’s support for India’s membership in the Nuclear Suppliers Group  (NSG), and also its cooperation in tracking the black money stashed in Swiss banks.
In a pre-departure media briefing, Foreign Secretary S Jaishankar had said India had received support from Swiss authorities on exchange of information on tax data between the two countries.
On the Nuclear Suppliers Group (NSG) issue, he had said that ”We are engaging all NSG members regarding this issue, and obviously Switzerland is a very important member and definitely I would expect it to come up.”     Renewable energy sector on which the Prime Minister is focused on and in which  Switzerland is much ahead of India was also expected to figure in the  discussions. Besides these, regional and multilateral issues would also be  taken up by the two leaders.
The Prime Minister, who had flown in here from Qatar last night on the third leg of his visit, will also participate in a business event.        He will also address Indian Researchers working at CERN.
The Prime Minister will leave for the US on the fourth leg of his visit today itself. (AGENCIES)
