BUDGAM, Apr 22: National Conference party president Dr Farooq Abdullah addressed massive elections rallies in Budgam Chowk, Chrar-e-Sharief and Hazratbal today and said that Narendra Modi wants to disintegrate India on the basis of religion.
He said that recent remarks of BJP leaders have made it amply clear that Modi harbors animosity against the minorities of the country and believes in the mantra of “My Way or the Highway”.
Speaking at the election rallies, the National Conference president said that Modi had announced a political war on J&K by advocating the abrogation of Article 370 and it was extremely unfortunate that Mufti Mohammad Sayeed had embraced Narendra Modi without any hesitation or reluctance. “I understand the lure of power can blind a politician, but how low can someone stoop to embrace a person who has announced an open war on the people of Jammu and Kashmir?” Dr. Farooq Abdullah asked.
Ridiculing Mufti Sayeed’s remarks about election rigging, Dr. Farooq Abdullah said that Mufti Sayeed has been a part of most electoral riggings and has sabotaged more elected Governments in J&K than any person in the entire country must have done. It was Mufti Sayeed who engineered the disappearance of nomination papers of dozens of Assembly candidates in 1967 – a machination that resulted in 21 MLAs being elected unopposed. When these 21 MLAs went to meet Indira Gandhi, she refused to meet them and told them that they were not “People Made” but “Khaliq Made”, refering to the great electoral rigging that Mufti Sayeed was an architect of. Will the same Mufti give lectures on electoral rigging now? Dr. Farooq asked.
He said that Mufti Sayeed should for once in his political career make a departure from divisive and manipulative shrewdness and invest some time finally to work for the welfare of the people. “Mufti Sayeed has invested an entire lifetime in inventing shrewd political gameplays and ploys for his own political welfare. Now, he would be well advised to spend some time in doing public service,” Dr Abdullah added.
The public meetings in Budgam were also addressed by senior NC Leaders Abdul Rahim Rather, Aga Syed Ruhullah, Ali Mohammad Dar, Dr. Shahnaz Ganai and DPN leader G M Bawan.
The public meeting in Hazratbal was also addressed by NC Additional General Secretary Dr. Sheikh Mustafa Kamaal, NC Srinagar District President Peer Afaq, Ex-MLA Hazratbal Mohammad Sayeed Akhoon.
