MLC inaugurates cutting, tailoring centre at Palmar

KISHTWAR, Nov 17: Member Legislative Council, Firdous Tak today said that State Government led by Chief Minister  Mehbooba Mufti was focusing on skill development of women for their socio-economic upliftment making them financially independent.
“The Chief Minister was presently monitoring most of the schemes formulated and under implementation for economic upliftment of women in the State”, he said adding that today women has been given equal rights and opportunity making them a contributor in development and prosperity.
The Legislator was addressing a gathering after inaugurating a tailoring, stitching training center established by Khadi Village and Industries Board (KVIB) in Palmar area of Kishtwar district. About 25 girls, from economically weak families, will be imparted training in the center with monthly stipend with future opportunities for opening of their own boutiques.
Tak extended gratitude to  the higher authorities in KVIB for rendering support to  open this centre  and hoped that in future more such centers will be established in this hilly region. On the demand of the locals, the MLC  announced to provide 25 sewing machines for the girls undertaking training in the newly established center.
